Individual Therapy

For Adults:

Individual therapy is an evidence-based form of treatment for many types of mental, emotional, and behavioral health issues or concerns you might have. Individual therapy consists of a one-on-one relationship between yourself and your therapist. While anyone can benefit from a therapeutic relationships, some of the common reasons for people to seek out individual counseling services include: distressing emotions, such as sadness or anger; recent trauma and/or difficulty managing stress; grief; identity development (i.e., support around gender transitions); anxiety; and depression. Feel free to call to discuss your interest in engaging in therapy.

While the aforementioned list is not exhaustive of what we can work with, it is important to acknowledge where our center does not have specific training and expertise: substance use treatment and eating disorder treatment. Help for these concerns is best obtained through specialized clinicians.

People often credit individual therapy as having added to their support network, improved their ability to cope and manage emotions/symptoms, a greater ability to navigate life challenges and stress pro-socially and adaptively, improved interpersonal relationships, and a greater understanding of oneself. Your specific goals for treatment will be defined early in treatment.

For Minors:

Minors (those under 18-years-old) are also welcome to engage in individual therapy, pending they have written consent from all people who have legal decision making authority for the child. Minors may engage in therapy for a range of mental, emotional, and/or behavioral health concerns including: anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma/stress, peer problems, family transitions, and much more. Feel free to call to discuss your interest in your child engaging in therapy.
